The Government of Canada and Public Works and Government Services
Canada is committed to respecting the personal privacy of individuals
who visit our Web sites. This section summarizes the privacy policy
and practices of Public Works and Government Services Canada Web
sites.

Public Works and Government Services Canada does not automatically
gather any personal information from you, such as your name,
phone number, e-mail or street address during your visit to
its Web sites. This information is only obtained if you supply
it voluntarily, usually through contacting us via e-mail, or
registering in a secure portion of the site.

All personal information you do provide is protected under
the federal Privacy
Act. This means that, at the point of collection, you
will be informed that your personal information is being collected,
the purpose for which it is being collected and that you have

Public Works and Government Services Canada employs software
programs to monitor network traffic to identify unauthorized
attempts to upload or change information, or otherwise cause
damage. This software receives and records the Internet Protocol
(IP) addresses of computers that have connected with their Web
sites. We make no attempt to link these addresses with the identity
of individuals visiting our site unless an attempt to damage
the site has been detected.

Public Works and Government Services does not regularly use
'cookies' to track how visitors use the Web sites of individual
institutions. Whenever we enable 'cookies' to facilitate your
transactions, we will first inform you. (A cookie is a file
that may be placed on your hard drive without your knowledge
by a website to allow it to monitor your use of that site.)

Visitor information is not disclosed to anyone except PWGSC
personnel who need the information, e.g., to respond to a request.
